Combining Arenal and Manuel Antonio
Arenal and Manuel Antonio form the two main destination stops in our volcano, rainforest and beach sample. The planning question is not how many activities fit between them, but how to give each stop a clear purpose. Choose the experiences you want from each place before deciding the number of nights.
Plan in nights, then examine the days
An eight-day trip contains seven nights, but arrival, departure and changing destinations all use part of the itinerary. A night at a destination does not automatically create a full day there. Sketch where you expect to sleep, then mark which days remain free for activities.

Give the transfer its own space
Do not treat the line between destinations as an empty slot. Ask for a route-specific plan using the actual accommodation addresses and travel dates. Discuss pickup arrangements, luggage and breaks. Avoid attaching a time-sensitive activity to the end of a transfer until the practical details have been checked.
The sample does not quote driving times. A useful proposal should explain the assumptions behind its schedule and the alternatives if conditions change. If the itinerary feels compressed, reducing activities or changing a stop may work better than expecting a faster journey.
Keep visits separate from assumptions
A proposed nature visit does not establish park access, guide arrangements or opening conditions. Those details need confirmation for the actual date. Decide which experience matters most and what alternative would still make the day worthwhile. Likewise, staying near a beach does not establish walking access from a particular room or property.
