Highly recommended medical facility
Reviewed by Paul Lee, 2010-12-08
Pros:
Clinica Biblica has modern equipment and facilities, excellent medical care and expert medical staff at bargain prices compared to USA.
I was admitted for colonoscopy right on the 8 am appointment time. Everything went efficiently and I was finished in 45 minutes. The results required a separate surgery which was scheduled same day 4 pm and went like clockwork. One night stay in hospital was an excellent experience. A big private room with flat panel TV, an extra couch for visitors with a personal in room safe, etc. After being discharged I had minimal discomfort and no bleeding detected afterward. The surgeon did an excellent job. All my procedures were carefully explained to me and I was handed excellent paper medical reports.
In the process I learned a few words of Spanish and enjoyed the balmy January 70F temperatures. I came from USA after a snow storm and -20F local temperatures. It is a good way to get medical care and a tropical vacation at the same time.
Con:
If you have health insurance make sure to get acceptable billing receipts. Typically insurance companies require a page having: 1. who performed the service 2. their address 3. date of each service and 4. list of services with cost for each. I was promised suitable invoices before surgery. I paid for the services with my credit card and got very simple receipts. Two months later I was still negotiating for suitable receipts. If you are have health insurance coverage and are required to prepay at Clinica Biblica, I recommend you refuse payment until you get suitable invoices for insurance purposes. It seems the idea of a proper invoice is a mystery to them.
